Our Salmiak Liquorice Fizzy Stubs are made for true salty liquorice lovers. Each piece features a firm liquorice outer shell with a powerful salmiak filling at the centre, finished with a lightly tangy coating.

Despite the name, they’re not explosively fizzy like sherbet sweets. Instead, the outer dusting adds a gentle sharpness that enhances the intensity of the salmiak inside.

Salmiak (ammonium chloride) gives liquorice its distinctive salty, mineral-like flavour — bold, savoury and unmistakably strong. It’s a firm favourite across the Netherlands and Nordic countries, where salty liquorice is part of everyday snacking culture. In the UK, however, this is considered a much more acquired taste.

The centre delivers a concentrated hit of strong salmiak flavour, deeper and more intense than mild varieties. If you already enjoy salty liquorice, these will absolutely hit the mark. If you’re new to salmiak, be prepared — this is not your average sweet liquorice.

What is SALMIAC  ? Salmiak (salmiac) is a traditional Scandinavian liquorice flavour made using ammonium chloride, giving a Salmiak distinctive salty, tangy taste that can feel strong or nasal to those not used to it. It is made with ammonium chloride, a salt with a sharp, salty, slightly bitter taste. It is not ammonia, although it can create an ammonia-like sensation in the nose for some people.
